US Airfreight - Known Consignor
The federal government has passed the necessary amendments to regulations in order to meet the new US air cargo security requirements for airfreight exports bound for the USA at piece-level by July 2017. The changes being made to the Aviation Transport Security Act (2004) will create a "known consignor" scheme for Australian exporters that will enable them to secure their shipments to US requirements at their warehouses and then have the cargo transferred straight to the aircraft. Businesses will be able to apply to join the known consignor scheme from July 2016.
